To help ensure they find great, live channels we’ve been experimenting with showing recommended content across Twitch, including on streamer’s pages that are offline.— Emmett Shear (@eshear) August 11, 2019 A subsequent tweet stated “this wouldn’t even have been an issue if they didnt (sic) use my channel to promote others in the first place.” Blevins notes this practice isn’t the norm for Twitch streamers who have changed platform, with dormant channels usually featuring a breakdown of the streamers channel information. Not so for the ridiculously popular page run by Ninja, however, with a message that read “the streamer you’re looking for is in another castle.” Shortly after Ninja’s video went live, Twitch pulled the plug, reverting the channel to the normal state and removing the message. 16 Photos Twitch CEO Emmett Shear responded, via Twitter, on Sunday evening, saying the company has been “experimenting with showing recommended content across Twitch, including on streamer’s pages that are offline,” in addition to personally apologizing to Blevins for the indiscretion. Getty/Johannes Eisele One of the world’s most popular video game streamers, the blue-and-red-haired Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, has taken to Twitter to air his grievances with video streaming Goliath Twitch, after pornography appeared on his offline channel on Sunday. After dropping Twitch video and moving to rival platform Mixer earlier this month, Ninja’s channel was being used to promote other content across the platform.Blevins made his name streaming Fortnite and had amassed around 14.5 million followers on Twitch before jumping ship to Microsoft’s Mixer on a new exclusive deal. His Twitch channel remained available to view, but offline, with Twitch taking the unusual step of promoting a feed of “popular Fortnite channels” across the streaming service in place of the usual offline page. The top channel on that feed featured hardcore pornography.Blevins took to Twitter with a message for his followers that he was “disgusted and so sorry” about the mishap. Twitch has now reverted my channel back to how an offline page should look. Thank you.— Ninja (@Ninja) August 11, 2019 Ninja Pornography Twitch
Even though banks are aflush with money in the wake of demonetisation, their loan growth has taken a hit and is near historic lows. Between November 11 and December 23, 2016, credit offtake declined by Rs 5,229 crore, touching a low of 5.1 percent, while banks’ deposits increased by around Rs 4 lakh crore. Also read: Demonetisation: RBI responds to reports that 97% of banned notes have been returnedAnd that could be a matter of concern, State Bank of India (SBI) said in its research report, Ecowrap. The SBI note explained the link between rate cut and credit growth, saying when the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) reduced repo rate by 125 basis points (bps) during January 2015 till March 2016, and banks by 70 bps to the customer, there was a substantial increase in credit to housing to the tune of nearly Rs 1.5 lakh crore.Even prior to that, from November 2008 to August 2010, banks had slashed lending rate by 75-80 bps and they witnessed credit growth of around Rs 7.3 lakh crore from a yearly average growth of Rs 4 lakh crore.Interestingly, in July 2010, banks had shifted from the benchmark prime lending rate (BPLR) method of the lending rates to base rate system and that had resulted in a substantial decline in lending rates, which boosted the average credit growth to 22.0 percent in the period July 2010-March 2011, compared to 18.1 percent in April to June 2010. Last year in April, banks again shifted to the marginal cost of funds-based lending rate (MCLR) from base rate system, but there were no significant differences in both the lending rates. But now that the SBI and other lenders have slashed MCLR rates almost 80-90 bps at one go, the report anticipates a strong case for a credit growth rebound, at least in the housing sector. It would be interesting to see if credit growth picks up in the near future, says the note.Sectoral deployment of credit for November 2016 indicates that there is a slowdown in credit across all the sub-sectors on year-to-date (YTD) basis, while on year-on-year (YoY) basis, credit to services has increased marginally. SBI says, “During this period, major sub-sectors in the industry which witnessed deceleration or contraction in credit include infrastructure, food processing, chemical and chemical products, all engineering, textiles and basic metal and metal products. Credit to housing has also declined, while auto loans are showing traction in YoY credit growth, which may be due to the low base.”Meanwhile, SBI expects demonetisation-led cash crunch to normalise by February. At the end of December, only 44 percent of the demonetised currency was replaced. SBI estimates that if the RBI continues to print as it is doing now, then by January end about 67 percent of the currency should get replaced and by February, at this rate, the RBI could print as much as 89 percent of the total currency. However, if the RBI decides to shift its printing more towards smaller denomination, this number could be close to 80 percent, the SBI note highlighted.”Either way, we maintain, contrary to market perception, that things will be closer to normal by Feb-end as opposed to predictions of the crisis lasting longer,” SBI adds.At the same time, India’s largest lender believes the RBI is unlikely to cut repo rate in February as global uncertainties may again play spoilsport. It said inflation trajectory is expected to remain significantly benign. The December inflation numbers may witness a reading closer to 3.2-3.3 percent.”Though inflation may increase in March, it may still be closer to the lower band of 4-4.5 per cent. Hence, the scope for an accommodative monetary cycle will continue even in the financial year 2017-2018,” the report said.
Register Now » 2 min read November 24, 2014 An advanced malicious software application has been uncovered that since 2008 was used to spy on private companies, governments, research institutes and individuals in 10 countries, anti virus software maker Symantec Corp said in a report on Sunday. The Mountain View, California-based maker of Norton anti virus products said its research showed that a “nation state” was likely the developer of the malware called Regin, or Backdoor. Regin, but Symantec did not identify any countries or victims.Symantec said Regin’s design “makes it highly suited for persistent, long-term surveillance operations against targets,” and was withdrawn in 2011 but resurfaced from 2013 onward. The malware uses several “stealth” features “and even when its presence is detected, it is very difficult to ascertain what it is doing,” according to Symantec. It said “many components of Regin remain undiscovered and additional functionality and versions may exist.”Almost half of all infections occurred at addresses of Internet service providers, the report said. It said the targets were customers of the companies rather than the companies themselves. About 28 percent of targets were in telecoms while other victims were in the energy, airline, hospitality and research sectors, Symantec said.Symantec described the malware as having five stages, each “hidden and encrypted, with the exception of the first stage.” It said “each individual stage provides little information on the complete package. Only by acquiring all five stages is it possible to analyze and understand the threat.”Regin also uses what is called a modular approach that allows it to load custom features tailored to targets, the same method applied in other malware, such as Flamer and Weevil (The Mask), the anti virus company said. Some of its features were also similar to Duqu malware, uncovered in September 2011 and related to a computer worm called Stuxnet, discovered the previous year.Cybersecurity is a sensitive topic for businesses in the United States, where there have been several breaches of major companies and customer information. The U.S. government and private cyber intelligence firms have said they suspect state-backed hackers in China or Russia may be responsible.Symantec said Russia and Saudi Arabia accounted for about half of the confirmed infections of the Regin malware and the other countries were Mexico, Ireland, India, Iran, Afghanistan, Belgium, Austria and Pakistan.(Reporting by Grant McCool, editing by G Crosse) Free Webinar | Sept. 9: The Entrepreneur’s Playbook for Going Global Growing a business sometimes requires thinking outside the box. Yesterday, the team at NVIDIA released CUDA 10.1 with a new lightweight GEMM library, new functionalities and performance updates to existing libraries, and improvements to the CUDA Graphs APIs. What’s new in CUDA 10.1? Now there are new encoding and batched decoding functionalities in nvJPEG. This release also features faster performance for a broad set of random number generators in cuRAND. In this release, there is improved performance and support for fork/join kernels in CUDA Graphs APIs. Compiler In this release, the CUDA-C and CUDA- C++ compiler, nvcc, are found in the bin/ directory. They are built on top of the NVVM optimizer, which itself is built on top of the LLVM compiler infrastructure. Developers who are willing to target NVVM directly can do so by using the Compiler SDK, which is available in the nvvm/directory. Tools There are new development tools available in the bin/ directory including, few IDEs like nsight ( Linux, Mac), Nsight VSE (Windows) and debuggers like cuda-memcheck, cuda-gdb ( Linux), Nsight VSE (Windows). The tools also include a few profilers and utilities. Libraries This release comes with cuBLASLt, a new lightweight GEMM library with a flexible API and tensor core support for INT8 inputs and FP16 CGEMM split-complex matrix multiplication. CUDA 10.1 also features selective eigensolvers SYEVDX and SYGVDX in cuSOLVER. Few of the available utility libraries in the lib/ directory (DLLs on Windows are in bin/) are cublas (BLAS), cublas_device (BLAS Kernel Interface), cuda_occupancy (Kernel Occupancy Calculation [header file implementation]), etc. To know more about this news in detail, check out the post by Nvidia.
