Woops Your Postal Prices Wont Go Up as Much as The USPS

first_img The increase is set to take effect in April, though a 4.3 percent exigency surcharge will expire a few weeks after that. “[This] is good news in general for publishers,” says David LeDuc, senior director of public policy for the SIIA. “But a publisher should not assume [1.34 percent] will be their increase. No one is yet able to determine the true effect by running the mail list using the old rates and new rates with the new rules. A back-of-the-envelop calculation results in a 9-percent increase for a light publication with low advertising and a national distribution with 25,000 copies. Of course, other periodicals will fare better in some circumstances.” Publishers got a shock when the USPS announced a rate hike for periodicals of close to 2 percent last month, but it turns out the blow won’t be that bad. A calculation error discovered by the Postal Regulatory Commission last week, and acknowledged by the USPS on Wednesday, means the average increase for periodical delivery will be 1.34 percent, instead of the 1.965 percent originally announced. Dead Tree Edition first reported the finding. “The Postal Service’s intention was to increase Periodicals prices by 1.965 percent,” the statement reads. “[However,] the prices noticed in the January 2015 filing unintentionally reflect a percent price increase for Periodicals that is below the goal of 1.965 percent.”last_img read more

Polestar wont limit top speeds like Volvo

first_img More From Roadshow 2020 Volvo XC60 T8 Polestar Engineered first drive: Almost Super Trouper 2021 Polestar 2 is Sweden’s sleek Tesla rival Volvo Share your voice “Naturally, our questions are anyway in a different realm, because with electric cars, you do not discuss high speed anymore that much. That is much more an element of the combustion-engine world. Even with Tesla, [you] have to look up the top speed. For us, it would be silly to announce it [limiting top speed], because really, it’s not a question that’s relevant to us as a brand.”Because of the way electric motors deliver power, with maximum torque output coming from zero rpm, the most sensational aspect of electric vehicle performance tends to be standing-start acceleration, like 0-to-60-mph tests. Top speeds aren’t discussed as often, in part because most EVs have single-speed transmissions that result in comparatively unspectacular velocities. Volvo has built its reputation on safety, and the company is doubling-down on that with the top-speed announcement, as well as revealing that it plans to research automatically limiting top speed in areas around schools and hospitals. While Polestar models will share much of Volvo’s safety knowhow, it will evidently not seek to wear that reputation on its sleeve. According to Ingenlath, Polestar is “a bit more expressive, a bit more daring, it’s a bit more, indeed, exclusive. Some people will like it, some people will not, and it is more driver-oriented.” 1:31 Now playing: Watch this: 50 Photos Electric Carscenter_img Volvo made waves on Monday when it announced that beginning next year, it will start phasing in a 112-mile-per-hour top speed on all of its vehicles. At the time, the Swedish automaker’s new electrified premium brand, Polestar, remained quiet on whether it plans to adopt the same policy. It will not.On Tuesday here at the Geneva Motor Show, I sat down with Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath after the debut of his company’s new Polestar 2 EV. He revealed, “We obviously will not do that, and that is a nice brand differentiator [from Volvo].” He continued, “we have not the wish within Polestar to actually dictate to somewhat speed he or she should drive.” According to Ingenlath, not only would limiting the v-max of its vehicles to such a low speed be contrary to the brand’s high-performance image, he thinks the discussion itself is almost beside the point with electric cars. While Chinmayi thrashes Sandeep Reddy RGV stands by Kabir Singh director

first_imghttps://www.ibtimes.co.in/sandeep-reddy-opens-kabir-singh-reviewers-calls-them-parasites-pseudo-critics-801137 Ram Gopal Varma and Sandeep Reddy VangaCollage of photos taken from Twitter and FacebookHours after singer Chinmayi Sripaada thrashed Sandeep Reddy Vanga for defending his concept of love, ace filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma aka RGV batted for the Kabir Singh director by comparing his film to Baahubali 2.Kabir Singh might have been a huge success at the box office, but it has faced the wrath of activists who are angry with Sandeep Reddy Vanga for glorifying violence against women. The film unit was keeping mum on the issue for the last two weeks until the director defended it in an interview to Anupama Chopra. The clip featuring Sandeep Reddy Vanga, describing what love is, went viral and created ripples on social media on Sunday. Feminists had a field day as many of them shared this video and thrashed the director. Chinmayi Sripaada was one of those activists, who condemned Sandeep for showcasing violence in the name of love. In a series of tweets, she tried to prove his concept of love is wrong.Chinmayi Sripaada: If a man is deeply connected with you – He will NEVER LAY HIS HANDS ON YOU. He will NEVER slap you. He will NEVER TOUCH YOU without your consent. Women (and young boys) have been told for aeons that being beaten up is a sign of *Love* / *Discipline*. IT IS ABUSE!I am in love. My husband loves me to bits. He didn’t have to hit me to prove that he is. Women stay in abusive marriages because men beat them up and then help them heal from the wounds that should have NEVER been there. Kids grow up in homes like this.A man who gets a woman to remove her clothes at knife point is a troubled man. Yes, such men can be in love and their stories can be told. I have known of women who are in abusive relationships/marriages with men. But *glorifying those men as Gods* is the problem.Trust me – when you are deeply connected with an individual and you’re deeply in love – You’d NEVER do anything to hurt them.Precisely the problem. When well meaning men will now normalise slapping the women they ‘love’ because they’ll claim they’re *deeply connected*. I guess the damage is done. God help us.And I say both women and men should be in harmonious relationships for a healthy society. For homes to be healthy. For kids to grow up safe. That’s all.Feminism asks for equal rights. It’s not OK for anyone to be slapped. It is not OK for any person of any gender to be in a toxic relationship. I do know that most women and men who use feminism in a negative context don’t know what it stands for and that’s OK.Barely an hour after Chinmayi Sripaada’s dig at him, Ram Gopal Varma took to his Twitter account to bat for Sandeep Reddy Vanga. RGV tweeted the link to his latest interview and praised him for his honesty and courage. He tweeted, “I think @imvangasandeep is the most perfect mix of innocent honesty and truthful courage.. This interview of his,is as pathbreaking as his #KabirSingh.”Ram Gopal Varma did not stop there. He went on to say that the success of Kabir Singh is four times bigger than SS Rajamouli’s historical blockbuster Baahubali 2. In a series of tweets, the controversial filmmaker also said that his story and characters are the exact opposite of what the film industry believes. They are exactly what the audience will love and relate to.Ram Gopal Varma: Speaking only of Hindi,In ratio of ROI(Return on investment) @imvangasandeep ‘s KABIR SINGH is 4 times bigger hit than BAHUBALI 2 and taking time into consideration it is 16 times bigger hit than BAHUBALI 2 considering KABIR SINGH was made in 6 months and BAHUBALI 2 in 2 yearsAmazing thing about @imvangasandeep is that his story and it’s characters are the exact opposite of what the film industry always believed, what the audience will love and relate to .. #KabirSingh ‘s monstrous success proves that he knows the actual reality of the audienceMe toasting ⁦⁦@imvangasandeep⁩ at Mumbai’s Alfredo’s in celebrating #KabirSingh ‘s Godzillian successlast_img read more
