Ninja disgusted with Twitch after pornography appears on his channel

first_img Disgusted and so sorry. pic.twitter.com/gnUY5Kp52E— Ninja (@Ninja) August 11, 2019 1/ Our community comes to Twitch looking for live content. To help ensure they find great, live channels we’ve been experimenting with showing recommended content across Twitch, including on streamer’s pages that are offline.— Emmett Shear (@eshear) August 11, 2019 A subsequent tweet stated “this wouldn’t even have been an issue if they didnt (sic) use my channel to promote others in the first place.” Blevins notes this practice isn’t the norm for Twitch streamers who have changed platform, with dormant channels usually featuring a breakdown of the streamers channel information. Not so for the ridiculously popular page run by Ninja, however, with a message that read “the streamer you’re looking for is in another castle.” Shortly after Ninja’s video went live, Twitch pulled the plug, reverting the channel to the normal state and removing the message. 16 Photos Twitch CEO Emmett Shear responded, via Twitter, on Sunday evening, saying the company has been “experimenting with showing recommended content across Twitch, including on streamer’s pages that are offline,” in addition to personally apologizing to Blevins for the indiscretion. Getty/Johannes Eisele One of the world’s most popular video game streamers, the blue-and-red-haired Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, has taken to Twitter to air his grievances with video streaming Goliath Twitch, after pornography appeared on his offline channel on Sunday. After dropping Twitch video and moving to rival platform Mixer earlier this month, Ninja’s channel was being used to promote other content across the platform.Blevins made his name streaming Fortnite and had amassed around 14.5 million followers on Twitch before jumping ship to Microsoft’s Mixer on a new exclusive deal. His Twitch channel remained available to view, but offline, with Twitch taking the unusual step of promoting a feed of “popular Fortnite channels” across the streaming service in place of the usual offline page. The top channel on that feed featured hardcore pornography.Blevins took to Twitter with a message for his followers that he was “disgusted and so sorry” about the mishap. Twitch has now reverted my channel back to how an offline page should look. Thank you.— Ninja (@Ninja) August 11, 2019 Ninja Pornography Twitchlast_img read more

IMF summit shaken as strong quake hits Indonesia

first_imgThis handout photo taken and released by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on 11 October 2018 shows IMF managing director Christine Lagarde (3rd R) attending a meeting with Pakistan finance minister Asad Umar (3rd L) at the Bali Convention Centre during the 2018 IMF/World Bank annual meetings in Nusa Dua on the Indonesian resort island of Bali. Photo: AFPAn earthquake Thursday killed three people in Indonesia and rattled hotels where IMF delegates are attending a major summit, a fortnight after a quake-tsunami killed more than 2,000 elsewhere in the archipelago. The 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Indonesia’s Bali and Java islands in the early hours, injuring nearly 30 people and sending residents rushing into the streets. Some attendees in Bali for the International Monetary Fund and World Bank annual meetings this week evacuated their hotels as the quake shook the island.”I felt the quake for at least 30 seconds and I panicked. At first I didn’t want to go out but then I decided to leave,” Katharina Sudiyono, an Indonesian attendee at the summit, told AFP.Peter Jacobs, head of the Indonesian Central Bank’s IMF-World Bank taskforce, said delegates in Bali’s Nusa Dua district for the summit were quickly informed of the situation.”Many summit participants woke up and asked questions, but we immediately sent out information to them that there had been an earthquake and the impact in Nusa Dua,” he told AFP.There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries in Bali and the summit proceeded Thursday uninterrupted.”We send our condolences to those affected by the earthquake. Here in Bali, the earthquake has not caused significant damage nor any disruption to the meetings,” an IMF spokesman said. The conference centre was designed to withstand seismic events, and participants had been told to remain there in the event of a quake. In case of tsunami risk, attendees would be evacuated to a nearby building.Holidayers in the island’s popular tourist districts also rushed into the streets as buildings swayed.”Wow, that was really strong and it lasted a long time,” said one woman who took refuge in a hotel parking lot in Nusa Dua, a few kilometres from where the IMF and World Bank are holding their meetings.Others in Nusa Dua, south of Bali’s main international airport, also panicked.”The quake was very big. I immediately woke up and took my little kids out of the house,” Ni Komang Sudiani told AFP.”All my neighbours were also running, said the mother of two.- Volatile archipelago -Dwikorita Karnawati, the head of Indonesia’s geophysics agency who was also in Nusa Dua for the IMF summit, said no tsunami warning was issued.”I felt the quake too,” she told AFP. “We are also still gathering data from our team in East Java.’In East Java, three people were crushed to death in their sleep when the quake brought down buildings and damaged some 210 houses in Sumenep district, East Java police spokesman Frans Barung Mangera told AFP.In nearby Sampang district, 27 people were injured and 36 houses damaged across eight villages, Mangera added. The tremor jolted many residents awake and sent them rushing into the streets.”Everybody panicked and the entire village ran outside. We have never experienced an earthquake as strong as last night,” said Zainurrohman, a 21-year-old from the district who like many Indonesians goes by one name.”We stayed outside until dawn,” he told AFP.The tremor’s epicentre was in the Bali Sea around 40 kilometres (25 miles) off the eastern end of Java island, according to the United States Geological Survey. The tremor comes after a 7.5-magnitude quake and subsequent tsunami struck off the Indonesian island of Sulawesi last month — around 1,000 kilometres northeast of the latest quake’s epicentre — killing more than 2,000 people.Thousands more remain missing since the twin disaster ravaged the city of Palu and surrounding areas. The search for the dead is expected to end Thursday.A string of earthquakes in Lombok in eastern Indonesia killed more than 550 people over the summer.Indonesia, one of the most disaster-prone nations on earth, straddles the so-called Pacific “Ring of Fire”, where tectonic plates collide and many of the world’s volcanic eruptions and earthquakes occur.last_img read more
